Jeff Attinella grew up playing locally for both the Clearwater Chargers and Hillsborough County United, while attending and playing at Countryside High School. Upon graduating, he stayed local to play at the University of South Florida
University of South Florida
Attinella was a three year starter and a two year Captain during his time at USF. In 2008 he helped guide the team to the school's first ever Big East Championship and reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament. Following the 2009 season he was named the Big East Goalkeeper of the Year and a First Team All-American. In 2023 Attinella was the firs Men's Soccer player inducted into the USF Athletics Hall Of Fame.
TAMPA BAY ROWDIES
After graduation Attinella signed a two-year contract with hometown Tampa Bay Rowdies. n the second year of his contract Attinella helped lead the team to their second NASL Championship in club history by saving three out of four penalty kicks in the Championship Game. He also finished runner-up in MVP voting and was named the Best XI Goalkeeper of the Year.
REAL SALT LAKE
After his stelar year with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Attinella signed with Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer. Majority of his time with RSL was spent in a back up role behind Nick Rimando. He gained a lot of notoriety within the league for his spot starts and multiple Same of the Year nominees. In 2013, the RSL team won the Western Conference Championship and lost in a thrilling PK shoot out in the MLS Finals. Attinella was selected my Minnesota in the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft but was subsequently traded to the Portland Timbers a few days later.

PORTLAND TIMBERS
Upon his arrival in the Rose City, he quickly won the starting position and helped lead the team to a Western Conference Regular Season Championship in 2017, and an MLS Cup appearance in 2018. After dealing with injuries, Attinella decided to retire after the 2021 season where Attinella and the Portland Timbers were once again crowned Western Conference Champions

After 11 years on the pitch, Jeff retired from professional soccer in 2022. He spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Rowdies (NASL), four seasons with Real Salt Lake (MLS), and five seasons with Portland Timbers (MLS).
